Catching Fish, Saving Fish
Hi, my name is Jacob Hofstra and I am an eleven year Colorado native. I am an avid fisherman and have been researching ways to give back and preserve my favorite sport, fishing. Since the day I could walk I have had a fishing pole in my hand. I learned the basics from my Grandpa but continue to learn more every day from my Dad and from research. I now enjoy fishing for tuna in Florida, trout in Colorado, salmon and halibut in Alaska and bass all over the country. I strongly believe that it is possible to both enjoy the challenge of catching personal record fish while also protecting the species for future fishermen. And, most importantly, protecting the aquatic environment. In my short lifetime I have already witnessed the effects of overfishing, pollution and climate change to this vital environment. Math is also one of my strengths and I enjoy tracking fish populations. On this website I will be posting about ways to catch bigger fish and how to preserve this amazing sport for future generations. I will also be looking for tips and answering any questions so please feel free to comment.
